01 · The scale

What each grade means for your raise.

A grade is only useful if it maps to a decision. Here is how to read yours.

GradeWhat the committee sawWhat it means for your raise
A+ / AA tight argument with no open objection big enough to kill a meeting. Rare on a first upload.Send it. Your bottleneck is now intros and pipeline, not the deck.
A- / B+Strong story, one or two fixable weaknesses, usually a soft financial driver or a thin moat slide.Fix the top findings first. A day of edits protects weeks of meetings.
B / B-A fundable story with a hole in the middle. The room splits, and the skeptics win the debate.Do not send cold yet. Rework the flagged slides, then regrade.
C+ / CCore elements missing or contradicting each other: market, model, and ask do not line up.Rebuild the argument before spending any warm intro on this version.
C-The deck argues against itself. Sending it would burn the contact, not just the meeting.Start from the story, not the slides. Then come back for a regrade.

02 · Why a committee grade

One reviewer flatters. A room votes.

A single reviewer, human or AI, tends to average your deck into a polite 7/10. A partnership does not work like that. One partner attacks your CAC math, another your market construction, a third asks why an incumbent will not ship your roadmap next quarter. Your real grade is what survives that argument.

The PitchScan grader reproduces it: five investor archetypes read your deck independently, debate each other, and vote. A meta-analysis pass reconciles the votes into a score and a letter grade calibrated by stage, so a pre-seed deck and a Series A deck are held to different bars. The grade comes with the top findings that produced it, so you always know what to fix, not just how you did.

04 · FAQ

Grading questions.

What grade do most pitch decks get?

Most first uploads land in the B range: a fundable story with one or two structural holes, usually in the financials or the market build. A-range grades are rare on a first pass, and that is the point. The grade is calibrated against decks that actually get partner meetings, not against a participation trophy.

Is the grade calibrated to my stage?

Yes. A pre-seed deck is not penalized for missing revenue history, and a Series A deck is not excused for missing unit economics. The committee weighs each dimension by what investors expect at your stage before the grade is assigned.

What grade should my deck have before I send it to investors?

Aim for A- or better before a cold send, because a cold email gives you one glance. If a warm intro is carrying you into the room, a B+ deck can work, but you should know exactly which objections it leaves open and have answers rehearsed.

Can I get my deck regraded after fixing it?

Yes. The free scan has no signup and no limit that stops a founder iterating. Upload, fix the top findings, upload again. Watching the grade move between versions is the fastest feedback loop most founders ever get on their deck.
